Wireless Engineering Cert Roadmap
Wireless engineering has a surprisingly deep cert ecosystem for a field that often gets lumped in with general networking. The CWNP track — CWTS through CWNE — is the vendor-neutral backbone of the profession, while Ekahau's ECSE credentials have become the de-facto standard for anyone doing serious site survey and design work. On the vendor side, 2026 brought a significant shift: Cisco launched dedicated CCNP Wireless and CCIE Wireless tracks in March, replacing the wireless concentration under CCNP Enterprise. Aruba similarly rebranded its Mobility track to Campus Access in 2023.
Below are 22 common wireless engineering roles and the certifications most commonly tied to each — from entry-level technician positions through senior architect and management tracks.

This list is not exhaustive and should not be treated as authoritative career advice. Cert relevance varies by employer, stack, and environment size — a CWNE matters more at a large enterprise than at a small MSP, and Ekahau ECSE carries real weight in the site survey world that general certs cannot replace.
